A new, young breed of
superheroes has emerged on Cartoon Network in Teen Titans as
Robin leads Cyborg, Beast Boy, Starfire and Raven in this all-new,
high-adventure series. The success of other animated DC Comics,
such as Batman, Superman, and Justice League,
allowed Cartoon Network to revisit the super hero genera in a very
non-traditional way. With influences ranging from Japanese anime to
slapstick comedy, the Teen Titans bring a light-hearted, comedic side to
crime fighting.
Teen Titans
features five teen superheroes each with special powers, led by Robin
The Boy Wonder. This group unites to form a defensive
force to protect the Earth from a new generation of villains while
coping with the problems of adolescence. Their powers
complement each other so that when they band together, they become a
formidable force.
But Teen
Titans is not all about defeating bad guys. These
superheroes are also teenagers, living together in a high-tech command
center that is also the ultimate hangout. They play video games,
squabble, leave dirty dishes around. They get on each
other’s nerves… a lot. But ultimately the Teen
Titans have to put their super-insecurities and super-gripes aside and
save the world from a new breed of bad guys.
Teen Titans
is being produced by Warner Bros. Animation under the guidance of Emmy
Award-winner Glen Murakami. Teen Titans is
based on the popular DC Comics comic book characters and will air
subsequently in the 2003-2004 season on Kids’ WB! Teen
Titans debuted on Cartoon Network Saturday, July 19, 2003.
