In 1999,
Cartoon Network premiered its sixth Cartoon Cartoon series, titled
"I Am Weasel". Unlike any of the original series before it, I
Am Weasel was a spin-off of David Feiss's original series, Cow and
Chicken. In fact, the first season of the show consisted of
"Weasel" cartoons pulled from Cow and Chicken. Once again
David Feiss created an animated program about two talking animals thrown
into some rather obscure situations.
I Am Weasel is the set of adventures of the title character, a
highly intelligent mammal, and his constant, albeit stupid
rival/partner, I. R. Baboon. The two are often competing in different
humorous situations, with ‘I. R.’ trying to out-do Weasel at every
turn. However, I. M. Weasel, the world renowned professional of
everything, always seems to come out on top. Look for The Red Guy (from
Cow and Chicken fame) to appear in each episode, usually instigating
trouble between the two.
Officially, the series started in 1999, but the first season of episodes
were in fact pulled from the Cow and Chicken series produced back
in 1997. A second season of all original cartoons was produced and
aired the following year. I Am Weasel wrapped up in 2000 after
three seasons.
